Definitions of such concepts as “interactive book”, “non-deterministic (interactive) electronic edition”, “electronic editions”, “interactive printed book”, “toy book” are presented. According to the normative documentation and scientific works, the varieties of interactive printed books are generalized, namely: turntable book, folding book, entertainment book, panorama book, coloring book, homemade book, toy music book, figure book, books- shopki and books-backstage, book-game with stickers, book-cutting, book from the series “touch and feel”, books-tunnels, finger books-toys, openwork book, book-prank, book with game plan, vimelbukh. According to SOU 22.2–02477019–11: 2008, in addition to appearance and constructive form, the printing edition is classified into four groups according to age category. The advantages and disadvantages of an interactive e-book and printed book are presented. Features of interactive electronic editions are revealed: compactness and ease, direct interaction of the user with the book, audio and visual support of material, presence of game content, illumination of certain elements promoting better mastering of material, detailing of images, use of “augmented reality”, mobility, economy, environmental friendliness and long-term operation. The differences of interactive printed books are noted: the feeling of the book, design and interactivity, assimilation of information, stimulation to reading, fidelity for many years, collecting. The results of sociological surveys of buyers conducted by the online store “Stylus” are presented. The reasons for choosing the printed versions are singled out: tactile contact; creative covers; opportunity to give. The tendencies of development of printed editions are specified.
