Specific of representation the image of a person with the special needs in regional mass media of Ukraine has been investigated in the article. The study has been made on the basis of the analysis of two Zhytomyr informational news portals http://www.1.zt.ua,http://zhzh.info.5 types of journalistic texts about the disabled people have been found and it has been determined that principal genres of materials representation are message and portrait. It has been determined that the last one focuses on the physical aspects of the hero’s existence and combines elements of the essay and the interview, using the world view-valuable and aesthetic modeling of the informational message. It is emphasized that the appearance of the «live» portrait in the publication is caused by commercial motives because it increases the potential audience and profits from the reviewing of journalistic messages. Present in Ukrainian and regional mass media messages and portraits of personalities with the special needs witness the decay of the dialogical model of the European and American spirituality and confirm the «failure of communication» (Е. Levinas) between the worlds of a physically healthy person and the one with the special needs.
