The essence of the economic content of the adaptive management concept is considered. The concept of the category of adaptive competencies of an industrial enterprise is developed. The foundations of the theoretical and methodological base and the components of the approach to the implementation and effective functioning of adaptive management at industrial enterprises, as well as the formation of the system of adaptive competencies based on the obtained results, are studied. It is determined that the adaptive competence of an industrial enterprise is a specific combination of three main factors: competitive technological skills; competitive intangible abilities and skills; a system of intra-organizational training and professional development. It is proven that one of the requirements for ensuring the adaptation and development of complex socio-economic systems is the management of business processes, which makes it possible to consider adaptive competencies through the prism of the process approach. It is concluded that the system of adaptive management of an industrial enterprise allows to adjust business processes in the conditions of changes in the parameters of the external environment and to ensure the financial stability and competitiveness of the economic entity. A conceptual model of managing the development of an industrial enterprise based on the formation of a system of adaptive competencies is formed. It is determined that on the basis of the adaptive competencies available to the business entity, its adaptive strategy is formed, the implementation of which in the long term ensures the survival and competitiveness of the enterprise.
