This article attempts to analyze theoretical views of Brian McNair on the basis of the first part «Politics in the age of mediation» of his book «An Introduction to Political Communication»; to make a review of politics in the age of mediation and political media; to outline the features of the interaction between politicians and the media; to explore the specifics of politicians’ presentations by means of public relations; to determine the social role of political communication in the globalized world.
